Formula Student Germany e.V honored with Bertha-and-Carl-Benz-Prize

Time to celebrate! Formula Student Germany e.V. is delighted to announce that it has been awarded the Bertha-and-Carl-Benz-Prize 2023. This prestigious award recognizes our efforts and achievements in introducing the Driverless Cup, an innovative competition category for the development of autonomous vehicles. Yesterday, we were presented with the award by the Mayor of the City of Mannheim, Christian Specht, at a festive ceremony.

One of our highlights: Meeting Bertha and Carl Benz's great-granddaughter, Jutta Benz, and taking a seat with her in the first automobile, the Benz Patent-Motorcar.

Formula Student Germany has introduced the Driverless Cup (DC) to promote the skills of student teams in the development and use of autonomous vehicles. This new category has allowed us to push the technological boundaries and our unique learning platform for students. Our goal is to foster innovation and technical know-how in the next generation of engineers through this competition.

Being awarded the Bertha-and-Carl-Benz-Prize is a great recognition of our efforts and successes. We thank the city of Mannheim and the jury for this honor and look forward to continuing our work and continuing to make a positive contribution to mobility and the education of future engineers. We plan to use the prize money to expand and support Open-Source work on Driverless Cup-relevant topics in the long term.
