Team Description
Global Formula Racing is the first innovative global collaboration of its kind in the history of both the US-based Formula SAE and EU-based Formula Student programs. The former BA Racing Team from the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg-Ravensburg (DHBW-R), Germany, and the Beaver Racing Team from Oregon State University (OSU) have combined forces to compete as a single entity. The two universities share physical and intellectual resources to create a highly competitive vehicle worthy of international reputation. The team has been in existence since 2010; and from 2011 to 2019, the team has built cars with electric and combustion Powertrains. Starting in 2020, GFR will focus solely on developing electric and driverless vehicles.
Design, manufacturing, and testing occurs at both schools. The collaboratively developed GFR20red and GFR20orange design will be used to manufacture two cars — one at the OSU campus in Corvallis, Oregon, USA, and the other one at the DHBW-R campus in Friedrichshafen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, both capable of competing in either the electric and driverless class.
