Update Strategic Announcement
Dear Teams, Partners and friends of FSG,
First of all, we would like to thank the 43 teams who took the time to talk to us either on the phone or in person. It was very insightful and constructive, and despite learning more about you, we hope these conversations explained the motivation behind our strategy.
We still believe that we are heading in the right direction. However, many teams reflected structural problems, the lack of team members, missing university support with the development electrical components and high cost of building electric cars.
Therefore, we decided to keep the combustion class for at least one more year. The allocation of competition slots will therefore be the following:
Table 1: Registration slots for FSC, FSD and FSE
Year | FSC | FSE | FSD | Total |
2020 | 45 | 45 | 25 | 115 |
2021 | 30 | 70 | Driverless Cup (30 out of 100 FSC/FSE) | 100 |
2022 | 30 | 70 | Driverless Cup (30 out of 100 FSC/FSE) | 100 |
Furthermore, we reallocate 25 points from the driverless Skid Pad to the Business Plan Presentation. It unloads the burden for teams with less experience in driverless but also does not jeopardize the incentive to develop a driverless system.
Table 2: Allocation of points (2020-2021)
Event | until 2020 | 2021 onwards |
Business Plan Presentation | 75 | 75 |
Cost and Manufacturing | 100 | 100 |
Engineering Design | 150 | 150 |
Acceleration | 75 | 50 with driver 75 driverless |
Skid Pad | 75 | 50 with driver 75 driverless |
Autocross | 100 | 100 |
Endurance | 325 | 250 |
Efficiency | 100 | 75 |
Total | 1.000 | 1.000 |
During the conversations we also received a lot of inspiration how we could support the teams. At the beginning of the new year we will follow up on some of the ideas and examine the possibilities.
Now, we wish you all a very merry Christmas, a wonderful time with your family and a great start into a new and exciting year 2020!
