Despite a lot of effort in setting up the infrastructure and testing over the past few days, we made a configuration error with the six global servers today when ramping up the AWS infrastructure, so we accidentally locked out all overseas teams from the quiz.
To minimise latency, we have a global network of buckets and API / FE servers. Everything worked great except for the CORS, which didn't occur during our tests because we didn't use a real browser for oversea testing.
As a total of over 40 teams were affected, we have no other option than to repeat the quiz next Friday at 13:00 CET.
We have now decided that we will ramp up the final infrastructure again from Monday evening 21:00 CET and then run the test server until Thursday evening 21:00 CET, under the domain reg.formulastudent.de. On Thursday evening we will only set up the final, second quiz without changing the infrastructure. This way, each team can test extensively whether any sockets are blocked by any firewalls, etc.
We are really sorry, because we are more than aware of the consequences. But it is the fairest way for everyone involved.
We sincerely apologise for this and hope you can understand our decision.
