“Opel Style Award” – We like Car Styling!

Together with Opel’s premiere as an official Formula Student Germany Sponsor, we are pleased to announce a new special award for all teams participating in Formula Student Germany. Opel is currently experiencing one of the greatest turnarounds in automotive history and one key to our success has been the definition of an elaborated car design. German, Approachable & Exciting: That’s Opel! We are as excited about automotive engineering as you are and we like car styling!

Formula Student is the ideal training ground for future Automotive Design Development. The Opel Style Award is a prize given to the team that show technical solutions that are both great looking and balanced with function. A holistic approach, high level of presentation and professionalism are essential for the winning team.

HOW TO REGISTER

Show us your Styling and hand in an application document (max. 6 pages in total, in pdf-format, max. 10 MB) containing the following information:

• All pages are noted with: university name, team name & address
• Rendered 3D-Graphics of your car in 3 views: FRONT, TOP & SIDE
• Total sizes of your car: length, height, width and especially wheelbase.
• Size of your tires (e.g. 13” or 10”)
• Description of your developments, ideas, concepts & decisions (max. 1 page).

Unique selling points that make your car a winning favorite?
Where did you face the most difficult challenges e.g. solving potential target conflicts between styling and the SAE-Rules?

• You may add the first design sketches or photographs of your racecar
• Upload the document to the FSG homepage (=> MyTeam => Events => Deadlines) until July 17th, 2015 23:59 CEST
• Five teams will be chosen for final judging onsite. You will be informed early enough before the event.
• Final judging will be 20 minutes (10 min. presentation, 10 min. discussion) with your car and a maximum of 6 team members

SPECIFIC AWARD CRITERIA

• Design theme, proportion, surface execution of the total vehicle.
  This includes the body, its relationship with all major components that are visible.
• Design quality.
  This is about the attractive appearance of materials used and the craftsmanship of fit and finish.
• Design Graphic and Color.
  This is where fresh ideas in graphics and color choice support the vehicle and complement it as a total concept.

The winner of the Opel Style Award will get an Opel Adam S as one-year free rental team car. Once the winner is announced we will print your team logo and place it as decal right next to the award signs on the Opel Adam S. The winner will be announced during the Award Ceremony Part I on Friday July 31st, 2015.
