Engineering Design Competition – Best practices to excel

We have prepared a little sneak peek into this years magazine. With the upcoming competitions, you will have to face the Engineering Design Event (EDE). Our Operative Team Member Robert Weingart has put together some useful tips. This should help you in your preparation for the next EDE!

To start with, here are a few do's & don'ts:
Do's
- practise the presentation and questions in advance
- have your car looking great
- be proud to show your skills to industry experts
Don'ts
- bring material you don't fully understand
- lie to judges if you don't know the answer
- be late for your judging slot
Judges expectations
- English language skills, good enough to have a fluent conversation
- understanding of the engineering and decision process behind the overall vehicle concept
- basic unterstanding of all subsections and knowledge about how they interact
