AUDI Best Lightweight Concept Award

There are no compromises when it comes to the finest sports car engineering. Technical precision and performance must be pushed to the limits – and beyond. Audi was the first marque to use aluminum to manufacture production car bodies. Even today, the topic of weight reduction remains as important as ever. Therefore the AUDI AG sponsors the AUDI Award for the best lightweight concept at the Formula Student Germany 2007.

The criteria for the award are:

• effective use of lightweight and technologies,
• implementation of lightweight in the vehicle concept
• designing methods
• calculation methods and verification by physical testing
• knowledge of the manufacturing process
• conflict of objctives between stiffness, strength and weight
